GET RID OF SORE THROAT

 

1. Sore throat caused by virus Infection

  • Common cold.
  • Influenza.
  • Mononucleosis is caused by the Epstein Barr virus.
  • Measles.
  • Croup is an infection in the air passage.
  • Chickenpox.

2. Sore throat caused by Bacteria

Some bacterial infection that can cause sore throat is streptococcus progenies which are responsible for strep throat.

3.Sore throat caused by Acid reflux

Sore throat is the result of the irritation caused by acid reflux. When the stomach contents are exposed to too much acid, they may irritate and inflame tissue in your throat. The soreness you feel when you have a sore throat is just one of many symptoms of acid reflux.

4. Sore throat caused by cold drinks

Cold drinks can cause sore throat because when you drink something cold, your body immediately reacts in two ways: First, the temperature difference causes blood vessels in your mouth and throat to constrict; this restricts oxygen supply, which causes pain and swelling. Second, the effect of carbonation irritates the lining of your mouth, causing discomfort.

5. Sore throat caused by Ear pain

Ear infections can cause a sore throat. Ear infections are quite common, especially in children and this is one of the most common reasons for sore throats in adults too.

6. Other Causes

Other causes of sore throat are:

  • Allergies.
  • Throat muscle strain.
  • Infection by any outside irritants.
  • Dryness.
  • Digestive system disorder or GERD.
  • HIV infection.
  • Throat tumors. 

7. Dry air

Living in dry weather for a long time can absorb moisture from the mouth and make the throat dry.

Lack of moisture also makes the throat scratchy. The air becomes dry in winter.

8. Outside irritants

Other than bacteria and viruses some outside irritants may cause our throat to become inflamed and infected such irritants include—

  • Smoke caused by tobacco or cigarettes.
  • Environmental pollution.
  • Dust.
  • Cleaning equipment.

9. Injury

A sore throat may occur due to any small injury such as hit or cut in the neck area. It may cause pain while swallowing food.

Sometimes when our vocal cords or muscles get strained due to long or repeated use such as singing or talking loudly, the throat region may cause pain and scratch.
